Pharmacogenetic Testing

Some genes are responsible for how your body processes medications. Pharmacogenetics is the study and evaluation of the inherited differences (genetic variations) that affect drug metabolism and an individual’s response to medications. Results assist psychiatrists in determining whether a medication could be an effective treatment for you or whether you could have side effects to a specific medication. In at our office we collect your oral swabs and send it to the lab. Genetic testing report will be available in one-week time, psychiatrist will review the reports with you and determine appropriate medications and dosages.
