Dr. Sujal Kotadia, M.D.

I completed my medical school in 2008 from M. P. Shah Medical College in Gujarat, India.  After coming to United States, I served as a clinical extern at Northwell Zucker Hillside Hospital, NY and VA Medical Center, DC.  I graduated from residency at Nassau University Medical Center, East Meadow, NY.  I specialize in the evaluation and management of major psychiatric disorders including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, panic disorder, psychotic disorders, substance abuse, ADHD, obsessive compulsive disorder and eating disorders.  I uniquely combine my education, training and practical experiences into specialized treatment plans.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, playing chess and watching cricket.

A story that I came across years back still inspire me each day, I have always felt that no other profession is as rewarding and able to provide the inner satisfaction that one experiences by taking care of the sick and suffering, and helping them feel better.  A man was taking a morning walk at the beach. He saw that along with the morning tide, came hundreds of starfish.  When the tide receded, the starfish were left behind and would die in the morning sun.  While the tide was fresh, and the starfish were alive, the man took a few steps, picked one up and threw it into the water and continued throwing starfish back into the ocean.  Behind him was, a stranger who couldn’t understand what this man was doing.  He caught up with him and asked, “What are you doing?  There are hundreds of starfish.  How many can you help?  What difference does it make?”  The man did not reply, rather he took two more steps, picked up another one, threw it into the water, and said, “It makes a difference to this one.”  With this as my motivation and ultimate objective, it has always been my goal, with each patient, to provide superior services.  I strive to give my patients high quality, comprehensive psychiatric care while recognizing their needs as individuals and as members of a family and community.
